Night Landscape Mode

My new camera has a shooting mode called Night Landscape. I wanted to test it out tonight after it got dark and I must say it produces some interesting results. Both of these images were shot well after dark.

Brutis in the Lot: This was shot at about 8:30 PM, so it was dark, and there is nearly no light in this part of the parking lot so you can see how the Night Landscape mode of the S600 really pumps up the light. The image is super grainy at full size, straight out of the camera, but at this scale it doesn't look TOO bad. I love how the world looks in this shooting mode, though. Very odd indeed. It's like it is daytime but there's something not quite right about it.

Banker's Hill: I shot this one using the Nikon S600 on Night Landscape mode at about 10 PM. It's a little blurred probably because I wasn't holding the camera totally steady but for a super slow shutter the image stabilization is pretty impressive. The night mode is pretty interesting - I love the look of the sky.

I think this shooting mode could produce some really cool shots if I tried it using a tripod. Good thing we have one of those! This should happen someday.
